Prison Break’s Paul Adelstein joins Grey’s Anatomy spinoff

Friday, March 9th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

OK, I am seriously starting to wonder just how mant more actors will become associated with this new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, because as far as I can see, it is only men who have signed on to the new show. And Paul Adelstein, who plays Keller on Prison Break, is the latest male to be cast.

In any case, Adelstein says he “can’t believe his good fortune” in nabbing a role on the new ABC show, which is being written by “Grey’s” creator and University Park native Shonda Rhimes.

Adelstein wouldn’t say a word about what his role is or what happens in the two-hour pilot – Rhimes is well known for strictly enforcing a cone of silence around her projects – but he would say that the pilot for the new series is “character driven.”

“I think with even some of the strongest writers out there, you could swap out the dialogue between characters on the show,” but that isn’t the case with Rhimes, said Adelstein, who noted that he and his wife, Liza Weil, who plays Paris on “Gilmore Girls,” are big fans of “Grey’s.” “Shonda not only writes great dialogue, she writes great characters. It’s all very specific. She’s got a very strong voice, it’s funny and truthful and three-dimensional, which is great fun for an actor and rare.”

I didn’t realize Paul’s wife was Liza, although things aren’t looking as rosy for the nenewal of Gilmore Girls.

And as for Prison Break, since Keller is still alive and well on that show? Reportedly, if the new spinoff is picked up, Paul Adelstein would leave Prison Break at the end of the season in a cliffhanger scenario.

Prison Break’s Dr. Sara, Sarah Wayne Callies, is pregnant

Friday, January 26th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Michael Ausiello of course has the scoop! Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Dr. Sara on Prison Break, is expecting a baby!

Exclusive! Prison Break Leading Lady Pregnant! You read it here first: Prison Break’s Sarah Wayne Callies is expecting her first child with husband Josh Winterhalt, the actress’ spokeswoman confirms. The baby is due in late summer.

What exactly does this mean for Dr. Sara on PB? I’ll have the scoop on that in the coming days, but suffice it to say that Michael’s crush will be MIA for at least the early part of any Season 3. (Can you say, “kidnap victim?” Can you?)

Congrats to the mother-to-be!

Prison Break Special to include interviews & upcoming previews

Sunday, December 31st, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Prison Break is following the cue of Lost and other episodic dramas in hopes of capturing new viewers who don’t have a clue what is going on by having a special episode designed to catch the newbies all up on what has been happening so far this season. Also included is a preview for the remaining nine episodes of the season, as well as interviews with many of the Prison Break cast members.

The show has proven to be popular - but like many shows (such as Lost) that have a very important plot that carries through the entire season and beyond, it can be hard for new viewers to get into a show like Prison Break. So hopefully this will result in some additional viewers getting hooked on Prison Break… and you can use it to convince others to become hooked on Prison Break too, so you have someone to talk to about the latest episode or spoiler.

This episode is set to air January 8, 2007 on FOX.

Prison Break pulling a soap opera casting switcheroo

Sunday, October 1st, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

You know how it is on soaps… no one ever dies and if a cast member wants to leave, the role gets recast and suddenly a new actor or actress appears in the role.  But in prime time television, a character is rarely recast.  But Prison Break is planning to recast the role of Maricruz Delgado, Fernando Sucre’s girlfriend.  She was formerly played by Camille Guaty who is now appearing on The Nine.

No word yet on who will be cast in the role.

So just how will they make the switcheroo?  Will one of those voices make a “The role of Maricruz Delgado is now being played by…”  Or will they not say a think and resort to characters repeatedly calling her Maricruz with numerous references to being the boyfriend of Fernando.  Either way is cheesy.

Prison Break airs Mondays on FOX.
